Download & Try the GOM Audio Player

Download GOM Audio Player

There is absolutely no dearth of good music players for Windows operating system. Free players such as Foobar2000, PotPlayer, and MusicBee all offer good music experience. Although Winamp, once the popular player, is no longer under development, it’s still available for download.
Those of you who don’t mind installing a new media player should try out GOM Audio Player. The GOM Audio Player is from Gretech, the company behind well-known GOM Media Player.
Although it may not be as powerful as PotPlayer or Foobar2000, it does come with some awesome features that might not be available in other popular players.

GOM Audio Player features

As with the case of other players, GOM Audio Player also supports all popular audio codecs, including WMA, WAV, FLAC, AAC, and PLS.
What sets GOM Audio Player apart from other audio players is its elegant interface, probably the most beautiful interface when compared to other popular audio players.

When it comes to features, it allows you listen to several popular internet radio stations. More importantly, it is capable of playing streams of live broadcasts that are hosted online.
Since a good player should include an equalizer, there is an equalizer, and then there are several audio effects to choose from.
Another interesting and useful feature is Power Options. When enabled, GOM Audio Player will automatically sleep, restart or shutdown your PC when your playlist reaches the end or at a certain time, allowing you to fall asleep listening to your favorite music.

Although it can be controlled with the help of dedicated keyboard shortcuts, GOM Audio Player automatically adds playback controls to the taskbar (remember Windows Media Player taskbar toolbar?) while running in Mini mode. To add playback controls to the taskbar, right-click on the empty area of taskbar, click Toolbars, and then select GOM Audio MiniPlayer. If the option is not appearing, open GOM Audio Preferences, under General tab, check the option labelled Lock to taskbar when minimized (MiniPlayer).

If you would like to see a popup notification on desktop when the player starts playing an audio file, you can enable the same by navigating to Preferences, Titles, and then checking Enable Desktop Tiles. This feature is pretty much like the toast notification of Winamp.

GOM Audio Player is allows you edit ID3 tags, change playback speed, and also offers A-B repeat. Unlike some other audio players, GOM Audio Player supports plugins and users can utilize this feature to add new capabilities to the player.

For those who aren’t happy with its default look, the default skin has three default modes and you can always use tens of cool skins available on the official website of the player. You can also enable transparency effect for the player and adjust the opacity level under Preferences.
Overall, GOM Audio Player is a nice audio player for Windows with useful set of features. The current version of the player is absolutely free and comes with no strings attached.

How To Add Files To Bootable ISO In Windows

Earlier last week, we discussed about a fantastic online tool to generate and download unattend.xml file that we use while performing unattended or silent Windows 7/8/9 installation. The tool also lets you generate Config.xml file required to perform unattended Microsoft Office installation.
After generating and downloading the unattend.xml file, I had to add the XML file in the bootable Windows 7 ISO file and test the same using a virtual machine before writing about the handy tool.
Add files to bootable Windows ISO image
As you likely know, editing a bootable Windows ISO isn’t a very straight-forward procedure if you don’t want to shell out a premium for paid applications. While there are dozens of free software around to create, burn and mount ISO files, a quick web search reveals that there is not even a single free program for Windows to edit bootable ISO files.
Those of you who want to add files to bootable Windows ISO files without purchasing a premium software can follow the given below instructions to edit your bootable ISO file. Since we don’t have a free program to directly edit the bootable ISO image file to add files, we need to first extract the ISO file, add files and then create a bootable ISO image again using a free application called ImgBurn.

Include files in bootable ISO image

Following are the steps that you need to follow in order to edit a bootable ISO to add files in Windows.
Step 1: If you haven’t installed a file archiving program, please visit this page to download 7-Zip (free) and install the same. If you’re using any other file compression tool such as WinRAR or WinZip, you don’t need to install 7-Zip.
Step 2: Navigate to the location where your bootable ISO file is located, right-click on it, click 7-Zip, click Extract files and then select a new folder in your preferred location to save contents of the ISO file. If you’re using WinRAR or WinZip, simply right-click on the ISO file to see Extract option.

Step 3: Once the contents of the ISO have been extracted, simply copy the file(s) that you would like to include in the ISO file.

Add files to bootable Windows ISO step44

Step 4: Now, we need to create a bootable ISO file out of those extracted files. In order to do so, we need to download and install another free program called ImgBurn.
Visit this page to download ImgBurn (free) and then run the setup file to install the same.
Step 5: Launch ImgBurn, click Create image file from files/folders option.

Add files to bootable Windows ISO

Step 6: Switch to the Advanced tab (see picture). Click on the Bootable Disc tab that appears when you click on the Advanced tab.

Add files to bootable Windows ISO step2

Step 7: Next, click on the small browse icon that appears next to the Source box and browse to the new folder containing the contents of your extracted ISO file plus the newly added files.
Once done, select a location to save the bootable ISO file that you’re going to build in a couple of minutes. To do so, simply click the browse icon next to the Destination box and then browse to the location where you want to save the ISO and then enter a name for the new ISO file.
Step 8: Under Bootable Disc tab, select the option labelled Make Image Bootable, select Emulation type as None (Custom), and then type 8 in the box next to Sectors To Load. If in case, you’re working on Vista ISO, please enter 4.

Add files to bootable Windows ISO step55

Step 9: Finally, click the small browse icon that appears next to Boot Image box and browse to the Boot folder located in the newly created folder where you have saved extracted ISO file contents. Select the file labelled etfsboot.com file and then click Open button.

Add files to bootable Windows ISO step66

Step 10: Click Build button to start the process of building your bootable ISO image file. Click Yes or OK when you see the following three dialog boxes to continue building the ISO file.

Best Free Burning Software: Top Programs for Copying, Ripping, and Burning

Keep your MP3s and other media files safe by backing up to disc.

By

Even though software media players such as iTunes, Winamp, and Windows Media Player are able to burn music to CD, you will have probably discovered that most are very limited on what they can do. Using a dedicated burning program gives you the flexibility to burn music, video, and other types of files to CD, DVD, and even Blu-ray; this can open up a lot more possibilities on the way you use and store your digital media. The software listed below has been selected specifically for its usefulness and ease-of-use when dealing with digital media.

1. CDBurnerXP Pro 4

CDBurnerXP has very good support for burning to several types of optical media discs including: DVD, CD, and Blur-ray. You can burn music to CD as either an audio CD, or a data CD (MP3, AAC, OGG, etc.). If can be installed on Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/7 and offers a user-friendly interface. You can create audio CDs using MP3, OGG, FLAC, WMA, and WAV files. A neat feature of CDBurnerXP is the facility to directly add tracks to your compilation from audio CDs without having to rip the tracks first. Finally, this free burning software program also comes with a convenient integrated audio player in order to play your music.

2. Ashampoo Burning Studio Free

Even though Burning Studio Free only supports MP3 and WMA formats, it more than makes up for this shortfall by its sizable feature set. This free burning program supports CD, DVD, and Blu-ray drives giving you flexible storage options. It’s intuitive interface gives you access to tasks such as ripping and burning audio/data CDs, backup files and folders, burn movies, create ISO/BIN images, and a copier for duplicating CDs,DVDs, and Blu-ray discs.

3. BurnAware Free

Available for the Windows operating systems (7 / Vista / XP / 2000 / NT), BurnAware Free is an optical disc authoring program that supports CD, DVD, and Blu-ray -- it can handle a wide array of audio formats too. This light-weight, but functional program supports MP3, WMA, FLAC, AAC, WAV, OGG, and M4a. If you've got files in the ISO format, then this program also supports disk image burning to DVD, CD, etc. The program is also capable of creating video DVDs which can then be played on a standard DVD player or games console (Xbox 360, PS3, etc.)for example.

4. FinalBurner Free

FinalBurner Free enables you to create data/audio CDs, video DVDs, and make ISO images. There’s also a built-in CD ripper that is capable of encoding MP3 and WMA files in varying bitrates. FinalBurner has good file format support when creating audio CDs. You can import MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, AAC, along with less popular formats like MID, and music modules (XM, MOD) that are used in music sequencers (trackers). As with all the burning programs in this article, FinalBurner has enough options to be a good substitute for expensive products such as Nero, etc.

5. Free Audio CD Burner

If you just want a simple program to create audio CDs then you won’t go far wrong with Free Audio CD Burner. Even though it only supports the writing of CDs, it can decode MP3 and WMA files in realtime, thus saving time and hard drive space.

6. ImgBurn
ImgBurn is a lightweight CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application that everyone should have in their toolkit!
It has several 'Modes', each one for performing a different task:

  • Read - Read a disc to an image file
  • Build - Create an image file from files on your computer or network - or you can write the files directly to a disc
  • Write - Write an image file to a disc
  • Verify - Check a disc is 100% readable. Optionally, you can also have ImgBurn compare it against a given image file to ensure the actual data is correct
  • Discovery - Put your drive / media to the test! Used in combination with DVDInfoPro, you can check the quality of the burns your drive is producing

6 Free Alternatives To Nero DVD/CD Burning Software

Everyone is aware of Nero, the most wanted burning software. Even I have used Nero for almost two years before jumping to the free alternatives that do the same job for free of cost. The reason behind the jump was not the cost of Nero but its size. As you might have observed, every time Nero releases new version with added features that are useless for most us.
How many of use all the features of Nero 7 or 8 or 9? That is, do you use the multimedia and backup feature of Nero 9? If your answer is a big “NO” you can use any of the below freeware as an alternative to Nero.

1. Infra Recorder: Probably one of the most used free burning software after CD Burner XP. You can create data, audio CDs easily just like Nero. Infra Recorder also supports dual-layer DVDs. Users can erase discs, burn images, copy discs, burn multisession discs, save audio and data tracks to files using Infra Recorder. Moreover, the installer size is just 3.2MB!!

2. CDBurnerXP: CDBurnerXP is a good freeware alternative to paid CD and DVD burners. This is the software which made me to jump from Paid Nero. Apart from basic disc burning features this freeware also supports Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs. Below is a small list of CDBurnerXP key features:
* burn all kinds of discs
* audio-CDs with or without gaps between tracks
* burn and create ISO files

* multi-language interface
* bin/nrg ? ISO converter, simple cover printing and much more!
* Operating Systems: Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista

3. DeepBurner: There are two versions of DeepBurner program available: Pro and free. I have been using this free burner for the last six months without any hassles. This program has many features that you can’t see in a free burner. To start with, it supports data CDs/DVDs, Audio CDs, build and burn images, overburn function, bootable discs, multisession discs. DeepBurner also supports CD-R / CD-RW / DVD-R / DVD+R / DVD-RW / DVD+RW / DVD-RAM. You can also find a big feature list here.

The biggest strength of this program is that it supports a wide range is images file formats including BIN, CUE, DI, DVD, GI, IMG, ISO, MDS, NRG and PDI.
